Hosanna! Teaches
The Bible is the inspired
word of God and the final authority in all matters of faith and life.
(2 Timothy 3:16 Psalm 119:105)
There is one God who exists
from eternity and is revealed and works through three persons; Father,
Son and Holy Spirit. (Matthew 3:16-17, 28:19, 2 Corinthians 13:13)
Jesus Christ shows us
everything we humans can comprehend about God and has redeemed us
through the cross. (1 Timothy 3:16, Isaiah 9:6, Colossians 1:15 20)
The Holy Spirit equips and
calls all believers today to follow in Christ's work. (Acts 2, 1
Corinthians 12:1-31, 14:1-12)
Human Nature was created
good but Sin has corrupted us so badly only God can redeem us. (Romans
3:23)
Salvation is by grace,
("grace" - Ephesians 2:8-9) meaning a free gift from a loving God, which
is ours only by faith opening us to an eternal walk with our forgiving
Father .(John 5:24, Romans 3:28, John 3:16, Romans 12:2, 2 Corinthians
5:17)
Prayer is our continuing
conversation with our Lord Jesus Christ. God answers all our
prayers. (James 5:16, Matthew 18:18-20)
Baptism and the Lord's Supper
were instituted by Jesus. Through Baptism God adopts us as his
children. Through communion God nourishes and preserves his
children. We believe Christ is really present in the sacraments.
(Mark 16:16, 1 Corinthians 11:29, John 3:16)
Lutheran Identity comes from
the confessions of faith developed at the Reformation. We teach:
Salvation in Christ alone, by Grace alone, through Faith alone, as
revealed in the Word of God alone.
The Last Things are in the
hands of God who is our Judge and Ruler. (Matthew 25:31ff)
Practicing our faith.
We teach that a full sexual
relationship belongs within the boundaries of a publicly committed
marriage between one man and one woman. (Genesis 2:24, Ephesians 5:31,
Exodus 20-14, Romans 1:26-27)
We teach that we are to be
pro-active in peacemaking. (Ephesians 2:14, Matthew 5:9)
We teach the sanctity and defense
of all human life including the unborn. (Deuteronomy 30:19, Jeremiah 1:5,
Proverbs 31:8)
We teach that Christians are to
work actively ~ to break down the barriers that divide people especially
those of race, economics and gender (Acts 10:34-35, Galatians 3:28)
We do not believe that these distinctions will matter in heaven and
teach that the church on earth should begin to mirror this eventual
reality (Matthew 6:10) |
