Sunday School 2009 The 2009-10 Sunday School year begins with Rally Sunday, September 13, 8:00am & 11:00 am The Sunday School registration forms are available on the counter in the Narthex. Please register your children ages three (as of August 1, 2009) through Confirmation age, so the correct number of materials may be ordered. You may put your complete registration form in the offering plate or in the Christian Education mailbox between the upstairs restrooms. If you have a child that turns three before August 1, 2009 and will be starting Sunday School this fall please let the church office know, 781-7991. You may also tell Cindy Hyneman. If you are interested in teaching eager-to-learn children about God and the life of Jesus Christ during the 2009-10 Christian Education year., you may volunteer to teach for a month, quarter, on a rotating basis or another creative way. Please contact Jane Petree, Sunday School Superintendent, or one of the Pastors. HOSANNA!’s Confirmation Program is for those in the 7th grade and older. It is a two year program, meeting on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings with Junior Youth Group meetings and events throughout the year. Sunday morning Confirmation classes are held during Sunday School time, 9:30-10:30am. This year’s Sunday morning classes will begin on Sunday, Sept. 13 with a Confirmand and Parents meeting at 9:30am in the First Samuel room. Attendance is VERY IMPORTANT, as a lot of information will be given. We will discuss the curricular, expectations, calendar and answer questions. On our first Wednesday evening Confirmation class, Sept. 16, 7:00-8:30pm we will begin studying the Ten Commandments. Please bring a great attitude, with a willingness to try things. Wednesday classes will consist of Small Catechism study, snack and a fellowship activity. These classes are led by Pastor Tim Baglien with Fellowship/Youth Group activities led by Cindy Hyneman and others. Parents are asked to fill in as assistants and help with treats and other activities. We suggest that your treat night be your service night. We’ll talk more about this in the Confirmands/Parents mtg. Sun., Sept. 7. Part of HOSANNA!’s Confirmation program is the responsibility of regular Acolyte (Crucifer) duty. Remember to sign up on the worship assistant board in the Fellowship Hall. Those entering Confirmation will receive a special Confirmation Blessing on Sunday, Sept. 7, at the worship service you normally attend. This is part of HOSANNA!’s Milestone Ministry Program. FIRST COMMUNION INSTRUCTION 4th grade & older In the fall, HOSANNA! gives those in the 4th grade (and older) the opportunity to receive their First Communion. 1st Communion Instruction will be on Sat., Oct.10 from 1-4pm. At least one parent must attend; if a parent is unable to attend a responsible adult may substitute. First Communion Instruction will be led by Pastor Tim. 1st Communion will be on Reformation Sun., Oct. 25, and may be celebrated at the worship service you normally attend. HOSANNA! makes First Communion Instruction available during a child’s 4th grade school year, yet it is the parents’ decision when their child is ready to receive Communion.
