LOOKING FOR A WAY TO MINISTER TO THE COMMUNITY? HAVE A PASSION FOR HELPING PEOPLE? JOIN THE SOCIAL MINISTRY TEAM TODAY!! Our Activities Benefit: Metro Lutheran Ministry (MLM) helps disadvantaged people of all races, religions and nationalities in the KC urban area.
In As Much Ministry supports the Salvation Army’s Emergency Assistance Program by providing aid for families who need rent, utility, clothing or other unforeseen assistance that cannot wait.
Hillcrest Ministries offers displaced families a disciplined educational program within a caring Christian environment..
Love, INC is a clearinghouse that links agencies, church resources, and community to specific needs of the disadvantaged in the Northland.
Food Resource Bank raises grain crops to donate to Lutheran World Relief to help people grow food, improve health, strengthen communities, end conflict, build livelihoods, and recover from disaster.
Habitat for Humanity builds homes locally in partnership with families in need.
Planned Activities: Valentines for Vets – Collect valentines and small personal hygiene items to be delivered to patients at the VA hospital. Shopping Cart- Collect food, paper products, and personal items for local food banks. Rebuilding Together Liberty- Join in annual work day to make low-income homeowners' repairs. Hillcrest Walk for the Homeless- Collect pledges for walk to provide relief to homeless families. MLM Christmas Store- Set up the store and assist shoppers in selecting family gifts. Christmas in July- Collect gifts and blankets to contribute to the MLM Christmas Store. Clothing Basket- Collect clothes to distribute to Children's Memorial Lutheran Church. Salvation Army Bell Ringers- Ring bells to support annual Christmas fundraising. Spring Fling- Create gift baskets and baked goods for MLM's annual fundraising auction. Buy An Acre – Contribute to ¼, ½, or 1 full acre of land for farming grain to support Food Resource Bank. Habitat Build – Pick up a hammer or help with lunches for volunteers building a home for Habitat for Humanity. Blanket Drive – Collect blankets to be distributed at the MLM Christmas Store. Adopt-a-Family – Buy Christmas gifts and/or food items for a local family that might not have Christmas otherwise.
Team Mission: A Christ-centered community outreach team which guides support for local and global social needs.
